Marine Fish Invertebrates Amphibians Plants

Alestidae:

The African family Alestidae (Ostariophysii: Characiformes) includes today 13 genera, among which seven are monospecific. Currently this family makes part of the order of the Characiformes, even if still some text considers them part of the Caracidi (only one sottofamiglia, the Caracidi Africans).

The fish of this family are original of the rivers from Africa (the Congo, Niger) of the centrafricane forests.

An omnivore, the Alestidae accepts most kinds of food, worms, insects and crustaceans, and should be offered a similar diet in captivity, including blood worms and/or brine shrimp.
